APR — Applied Pharma Research SA has operated from Balerna, in Switzerland's Ticino region, developing and marketing specialty pharmaceutical products across pain relief, nausea and vomiting management, anorectal care and medical nutrition for inherited metabolic disorders. Since 2026, APR is part of the Alpine-Bio group.
APR was built around a portfolio of well-established, trusted pharmaceutical brands — from fast-acting pain relief to specialised medical nutrition for rare metabolic conditions. Over the years, APR's products have found their way into pharmacies and hospitals, supported by long-standing relationships with contract manufacturers, distributors and healthcare professionals.
In 2026, APR joined the Alpine-Bio group, a data-driven pharmaceutical company that acquires, integrates and scales specialty healthcare products, diagnostics and pharmaceutical assets. As part of this new chapter, APR continues to operate from its Balerna site, focused exclusively on its core legacy products and two development-stage programs for rare diseases — with no service or contract-manufacturing offering.
Our growth strategy runs along two axes: building depth in four therapeutic franchises — Women's Health, CNS/Pain, Gastro/IBD/PKU and Supportive Care — and expanding horizontally with a growing presence in the United States, while continuing to serve healthcare professionals and patients across more than 15 markets worldwide.
APR's products are manufactured and distributed in line with Swiss and EU pharmaceutical requirements, under the oversight of Swissmedic and in cooperation with qualified contract manufacturers and distribution partners across multiple markets.
